IFR/VFR Mode-S Transponder Mandatory.
For some time there has been a discussion in the press, but next year everyone will be obligated to have a Mode-S transponder in Europe.
As you probably have heard, a while back the dates for the introduction of the Mode-S Legislation were announced as well as altered a few times in order to give General Aviation more time to get organised. In the last modification of the transitional measures, AIC-B 02/05 from the 3rd of February 2005, a final date was determined on which the Legislation for Mode-S transponders has to be implemented.
For IFR flights in the General Aviation all current Mode A/C transponders have to be replaced by Mode-S transponders before the 31st March 2007; and for VFR flights in the General Aviation this has to be in place by the 31st of March 2008
Whilst building the GTX330 into your Cirrus the following work will be performed: the removal and reorganisation of the Avionics rack, building in the transponder, rewiring the GPS/NAV/Com sets, the auto pilot and the audio panel, as well as requesting and programming the transponder code. Afterwards all avionics will be tested and a test flight will be executed. Eventually a EASA/FAA approval will be made and the Pilot Operating Handbook of the plane will be altered.
We would very much appreciate it if you choose our maintenance facility to perform this work for you. And would of course be pleased to send you a quote, without any obligations, and make an appointment for you. If you would like to take us up on this offer please contact Mrs. Alexandra Middendorp:
